The Bible says to ask for wisdom, and as leaders, wisdom is needed on all
fronts. |
| Pray that we will receive a fair and generous payment for our land, and a compensation for
being forced to close our school for this year. |
TThe Government is known to be generous with
such forced land purchases, but slow to pay. We need a timely payment so we can be fully
prepared to reopen the school by February 2009. Due to corruption, we were delayed in
being able to sell the land to the government. Prayers caused the Army to be relocated,
and we did not have to sell our land. So the corruption was used by God to help us keep
our land! |
| God’s special care for the orphans and their caretakers |
Poverty is rampant in Uganda, so when a relative dies and orphans come into an
already overtaxed family, he/she is not always welcomed. Many such children are unable to
attend school and are used as slaves. In some families, a grandmother may be the sole
caretaker of many orphans, and she may be hard pressed just to keep food on the table.
Schooling and medical care are rarely available. |
| Funds to establish a maize mill for income-generation. |
Pray with us for God’s provision to install a maize mill, powered by a diesel generator
when the electricity is off (frequently). Having the generator will capture the market
during the periods when the electric mills are shut down. This will provide a steady
income for the school, other ministries, and for the local mill workers. |
| Pray that we will be able to restart New Life Academy this spring (2011). |
